I'm happy to announce the final games list for No Man's LAN 2012.
The final games list
- Magic: The Gathering
- Draft
- Starcraft II
- This is a 1 vs 1 double double elimination tournament
- Battlefield 3
- This is a 4 vs 4 squad rush tournament
- League of Legends
- This is a 5 vs 5 tournament draft.
- Team Fortress II
- A 6 v 6 tournament; Best 2 out of 3 moves on.
- Modern Warfare 3
- 8 person FFA, top 2 move on
News as of Monday March 5th, 2012
As of Monday everything is coming along quite nicely. We are all excited (and nervous) about the weekend and we hope that everyone will have fun! I've been updating the website with rule sets for some games and a time schedule. My goal is to have all the information up by Wednesday. I'm sorry for the last minute updates but I'm still a student first.
A few things to mention:
- The website is very important for the LAN.
- When you sign up at the LAN you will be given a website login and with that login you will be signing up for tournaments.
- It's $15 at the door but only $10 if you pre-register!
- And I hope to see everyone there!
Unexpected Downtime! / War Story
This happened Monday, March 5th, 2012
All SysAdmins have war stories. Well last night one of our SysAdmins had his first big uh-oh moment. Rob, one of our designers / maintainers, was SSH'd into our server and went to shut down his laptop. Without paying attention initiated the shutdown command without realizing he was typing into the wrong terminal and accidentally shut down the server. After his error he contacted me to get it back up and running and after a few hours of obscure bugs we finally got the ball rolling again.
I've done this many times on random servers so it's more funny than anything else. Don't worry about it Rob! We apologize and hope that everything is back up and running to your liking. More updates to come!
